ACTIVITIES AND FUTURE PLANS OF SACH

SAARC Academy of Cytopathology and Histopathology (SACH) was inaugurated with flying colors on 14th November,2013 at Chittagong Medical College, Bangladesh. The event was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prof. Pran Gopal Dutta, Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Seikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Bangladesh .Dr.Zillur Rahman was the Convener.

It was decided in EC and GB meeting that SACH will be active from 1st January,2014 The Conference It was decided in EC and GB meeting that SACH will be active from 1st January, 2014. The Conference was concluded with a colorful valedictory function. A standing ovation was given to Dr.Zillur Rahman for his immense contribution to SACH and organizing such a colorful, successful and ever memorable conference. All the members and delegates will again meet in the 2nd SACH Conference to be held at Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh on 31st October and 1st November, 2014. The Conference will be organized jointly by (1) Department of Pathology, Chittagong Medical College, (2) Department of Pathology, Cox’s Bazar Medical College, (3) Bangladesh Academy of Pathology and (4) SACH under the leadership of Secretary General of SACH.

In 2nd SACH Conference, there will be a CME on Head and Neck Tumors on 31st October which will be coordinated by Dr. Zillur Rahman. Dr.Asitava Mondal is assigned to take the responsibility to be the Moderator of the CME. It is encouraging to note that 11 participants from SAARC countries will be delivering lecture on various aspects of tumors involving this vital area.

Apart from CME there are SACH Oration by Prof. Syed Mukarram Ali from Bangladesh, SACH Academy Oration by Dr. Ram Chandra Adhikari from Nepal, SACH Diagnostic Slide Seminar by Dr. Palitha Ratnayake from Sri Lanka, Guest Lectures, Free Papers and Posters on 1st November, 2014.

SACH-2015 Conference will be held at Dhaka in the prestigious institute, Bangabandhu Seikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) under the leadership of Prof. Mohammed Kamal, Vice-President Elect, SACH and Chairman and Professor of Pathology, BSMMU. There will be one day CME on Gastrointestinal Pathology followed by two days Conference. This will be a new milestone of SACH having THREE day Conference.

Association of Clinical Pathologists, Nepal (ACPN) in their VIIIth National Conference held at Kathmandu on 28th and 29th March, 2014. We were very glad that ACPN joined wholeheartedly with SACH. They agreed to hold SACH-2016 Conference at Dharan and SACH-2017 Conference at Pokhara. Dr. Zillur invited all the delegates of Nepal to attend SACH Conference at Cox’s Bazar.

Prof. Arvind Kumar Sinha, Dr. Smriti Karki and Dr.Santosh Upadhyaya Kafle and their team agreed to hold SACH-2016 Conference in the prestigious Institute, B. P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan. There will be one day Pre-Conference CME on Breast Tumors followed by two days Conference. Dr.Asitava Mondal has got the duty to be the Moderator of the CME on Breast Tumors. SACH is thankful to them.

Prof. O.P. Talwar, Prof and HOD, Pathology and Director of Academics, Manipal College of Medical Sciences, Pokhara has given his kind consent to hold SACH-2017 in their prestigious institute at Pokhara. Prof. Arnab Ghosh, Prof and In-Charge of Histopatholgy has given his consent to shoulder the responsibility of holding the Conference in 2017.

SACH 2018 and SACH-2019 Conferences will be held in India. Dr. R. G. Wiseman Pinto, Vice-President of SACH has kindly given his consent to hold two consecutive SACH Conferences in India. We thank him wholeheartedly for his kind cooperation and support.
